Cancún vs Tulum for a Group Trip
One of these is much easier to organise for six people. It is not the one on your feed.

We'll pick a winner at the end, because a comparison that refuses to choose is useless. But the answer depends on one thing: how much friction your group can absorb.
Getting there
Both fly into Cancún. From the airport, your hotel zone transfer is 20–30 minutes. Tulum is 90 minutes to two hours by road, or you use the newer Tulum airport, which has fewer routes and often costs more. For a group of six, that transfer is $120–$180 each way.

Tulum is the more expensive trip, and it surprises people because the aesthetic reads rustic. The beach road is priced for a specific kind of visitor, and cash-only policies at some restaurants make the running total harder to track.
The group experience
Cancún's all-inclusive model does something quietly brilliant for a group: it flattens the budget. Nobody is counting drinks, nobody is doing bill maths, and the friend who is being careful with money can relax for the first time in the trip.
Tulum's charm is real. It is genuinely beautiful, the food is better, and the cenotes are worth the journey. But it demands coordination. Taxis need arranging, restaurants need booking, and the beach zone is spread over several kilometres, so the group is always making a small logistical decision.
So which one
For a group of six or more, Cancún. It's cheaper, easier, and it removes more decisions than it creates, which is the whole game with group travel. The Hotel Zone gets a bad write-up from people who've stayed in one bad resort, but a good property with a decent beach is an excellent group holiday.
Choose Tulum if you're four people or fewer, everyone's budget is roughly the same, and at least one of you is happy to handle logistics. In that setup it's the better trip by some distance.
